1. White Pumpkin -- Finely chopped into Thin Slices
2. Urad Dal -- 1/2Cup
3. Green Chilli -- 4 or 5
4. Salt -- To Taste
5. Asafoetida -- 1pinch
6. Oil -- For Shallow Fry.

Method To Prepare
1. First chop the pumpkin into thin slices and tie those pieces in a cloth and leave it for one whole night by putting some heavy weight on that.
2. Also soak Urad Dal for one whole night.
3. Then grind the soaked urad dal without adding water.
4. Now add the Pumpkin pieces, Salt and Asafoetida to the Urad dal Batter.
5. Also grind the Green Chilli and add it to the above mixture.

6.  Now heat 4 tbsp of Oil in a Pan and put the batter and spread it with your hand.

7.  Fry it on both sides till it turns nice golden brown color. Repeat the same procedure with the rest of the batter.
8. Serve them Hot with White Rice.


  1. Hi, is there any reason to put a heavy weight on the pieces and, also why shd we tie those pieces in the cloth? does this process bring more taste to the dish.

  2. Hi, if you tie the pieces in a cloth and put a heavy weight on that, the excess water present in the pumpkin will be lost. when you prepare the batter by mixing the urad dal paste, if the batter is watery you cannot make the dish properly. so it shd be thick enough to make easily.

  3. I do not get this pumpkin here and have never used it. Dish looks yummy.
